Spain-based so-called Safeguard Defenders, released a report on January 18 accusing China's Operation Fox Hunt and Operation Skynet of including a large number of political dissidents in the criminals chased overseas and repatriated to China, which not only seriously violated human rights but also undermined the judicial sovereignty of the countries concerned. The group called on countries and China to stop judicial cooperation around extradition.
It is strange that as soon as the report of this unknown non-governmental organization was issued, it caused many media reports in Western countries to follow suit, showing that "black" China has a huge and abnormal public opinion market in the West.
As we all know, Operation Fox Hunt and Operation Sky Net are important measures for China to fight corruption and comprehensively govern the country according to law, and since their launch in 2014 and 2015, they have formed a major achievement in the extradition or surrender of thousands of fugitive corrupt officials and economic crimes, saving tens of billions of yuan in economic losses, and acting as a strong deterrent to potential fugitives who try to take charge of the crime. However, the Safeguard Defenders claimed in its report that China used various means to force some overseas Chinese to return to China to stand trial and jail them after the launch of Operation Fox Hunt and Skynet. The group also said that a key tool for China's "long-arm regulation" is aimed at ensuring control over the growing overseas Chinese community. This statement is simply a slander of China, a naked smear that has reached the point of madness, and this is happening without evidence.
In most cases, Chinese personnel who go abroad to pursue and escape need the support and cooperation of the country where the perpetrator is located at that time. If China's pursuit of fugitives violates the laws of the countries concerned and disrupts local order, those countries cannot fail to respond. But so far, only the governments of a few countries, such as the United States, have expressed dissent to China's "Operation Fox Hunt", and friction has occurred, most countries have a positive attitude towards China's pursuit of fugitives, extradition treaties have played a role, and mutual respect and understanding have promoted cooperation. And these very few countries that have friction are also in order to curb China's development, deliberately suppress China, and sabotage China's plan. The famous Lai Changxing case dragged on for a long time in Canada, and China and Canada repeatedly negotiated, and Lai Changxing was finally extradited back to China with the consent of the Canadian side. In this process, China did not violate any local laws and regulations of the Canadian side.
The "Safeguard Defenders" charge is an old way to demonize China, which portrays criminal offenders who flee abroad as political dissidents. Traditionally, Western accusations and propaganda of "human rights abuses" against China have intensified, and no matter what criminals China extradits from overseas, human rights organizations can cause a storm of public opinion by labeling them as "political dissidents." Western public opinion propaganda on China has been completely polarized and deviated from basic common sense.
